Scrubbers and washing towers

These are purification systems used for the removal of particle matter and gases from industrial processes. The main types of scrubbing are the following:
 
Wet scrubbing, which is used for the separation of high concentrations of solid particulate matter, usually by means of a venturi scrubber that traps the solid particular matter in the water. The venturi scrubber usually uses water solutions or other types of solutions containing reagents that specifically target certain compounds.
 
Dry scrubbing systems are primarily used to remove acid gases (such as SO2 and HCl) from combustion sources. This method injects a dry reagent or slurry into a dirty exhaust stream to “wash out the acid gases.  In some cases, no moisture is added; while in other, it is only added the amount of moisture that can be evaporated in combustion gases, without condensing.
 
Dry-scrubbing filtration has a lower investment cost, however high concentrations  involve high management costs, given filters and pre-filters will have to be frequently replaced.
